The Friends are dedicated to supporting our local community library. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization that works to improve literacy and support library programs.
The Sparta Friends of the Library have raised funds for books, activities and equipment that tax dollars alone could not provide. A recently completed Bookcase and Book Donation Box allow for ongoing Book Sales. During Town and Country Days, a larger Book Sale is held. A new bulletin Board donated by the Friends highlights Library activities. The group works year-round collecting and sorting donated materials in order to raise money for the library. Once a year we hold a bake sale.
The Friends sponsor the Summer Children's Reading Program and the Library's membership in the Michigan Library Association. We participate in Town and Country Days in the Parade. Periodically programs of special interest are presented to the public. Friends are encouraged to volunteer at the Sparta Township Library. By using our special talents, we can help the library to run smoothly and provide more services to the public.
Once each year, the Friends make a group outing to a local place of interest. Membership meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm with the exception of December. Come and meet our interesing and friendly members to have a good time while supporting a worthy cause. A the end of each meeting we all share a friendly joke to brighten up the day!
If you would like to join the Sparta Friends of the Library, you can obtain a membership form at the library. Please return your completed form to the Library front desk. A Friend will contact you with additional information.
